How do you know when to move up a diaper size?

We're currently on the 'N' size Swaddlers.

There are weight guidelines on the packaging. *most* babies are on size one by the time they are 1 month old.

Basically, when the diaper starts to look too small, buy the next size up.

On a side note, Teddy's Choice diapers are on sale for $24.99 a case at stores that sell president's choice products until March 16.

These diapers are great, we prefer them to pampers and huggies.
We've used them with both kids, so stock up!

We switched from pampers "N" to huggies "N" (was too loose initially); then moved to 1 (again, the huggies seem to have a looser fit, resulting in liquid & solid spills...)

You'll notice the diaper fitting more tightly and red marks on baby's thighs if it's too tight. For Huggies, wife prefers the elastics of the "Gentle Care" line (there are fewer diapers per bag...)

Whenever we noticed that the diapers would start to leave marks on our kids waistline, we knew it was time to change sizes.

And as the previous poster stated, Teddy's choice are on sale, and are just as good, if not better than the big name brands. Plus you get more diapers for less.

Unfortunately that comes with the territory. When fastening the diaper, make sure that you do it extra tight (won't hurt), so when the baby moves it doesn't loosen too much.

We always buy at one size bigger as babies grow up faster than you change their diapers. Anyway, we went the ecological and economical route, using those free-size cotton diapers for home use (that you have to wash yrself ) and whenever any outings (doc visits, grocercy runs), we use Huggies.

We tried the cotton diapers for a couple of days...pee soaked through almost completely (wasnt around when baby pooped...so cant comment)

Any advice to prevent leakage/seepage?

We used Costco diapers exclusively in the beginning. They are Stage 1/2 so they were good for a few months. Didn't really have much problems with leaking either. Now we're using Pampers Cruisers Stage 3.

The only diaper we hated was the Pampers Baby Dry. It's far from being dry. The first and only one we put on our daughter immediately leaked down her back since it was a mixture of poop and pee and went all over her clothes. Never again!

I don't know about you, but I didn't like Teddy's Choice. It wasn't really the fit, but more of the fastener. I don't know how many times opened up the diaper only to tear off the fastener, and no I wasn't too rough. In fact in 1 pack of diapers I must have thrown out at least 8-10 diapers just because the fastener ripped off. I have never since bought them again. Maybe I just got a bad pack, but with throwing out unused diapers, I really didn't save all that much money. Rather get Pampers or Huggies. Haven't tried the costco brand, was afraid I'd run into the same issue with Teddy's Choice.

I think the Costco branded diapers are made by either Huggies or Pampers. I forgot which one. But the stage 1/2 definitely has more leak guards! Haven't tried their stage 3 as Wal Mart had a great sale on the Pampers/Huggies and I bought several boxes.

Nothing can stop leakage/seepage. What we do is by putting a cloth with plastic underling to prevent further soiling onto the mattress ( or whatever area). The cloth to absorb the moisture and the plastic to prevent. Of course, add another layer of cloth for baby comfort. That's a lot of washing esp using cloth diapers. There was a kind of underline 'cloth' to help baby bottom dry if peed through. I don't see them in stores anymore as I used them a long time ago.

Extra note: Always rinse soiled diapers before piling the load for washing .. in a way rinse to get rid of smell or nasty poop. When a load (depends on you) is ready, wash with mild soap detergent (or use special formula detergent for baby cloth) as baby skin is sensitive.

I bought a box of them to try, but was curious what's the difference between the Supreme and the Ultra Comfort? The description on the box is the same for both. The Supreme was all gone when I was at the store, so I got the Ultra Comfort.

We've bought both and not really noticed a difference... so we buy the one with more diapers for the $$.

Also, right now there is a free kids dvd in each case of teddy's choice.

Are the Costco diapers cheaper than Teddy's Choice? Those are our favourite's so far, but we have a Costco membership so i'd be willing to try if there is actually $ saved!
