MP3 or IPOD for kids music
I want to buy something cheap, MP3 player or IPOD. The purpose is really for kids music, I would like something small that I can hook up to a docking stereo station. I was going to go with a cheap boom box and just create music using cd-r’s but instead I was thinking of going with MP3 or IPOD cause I can constantly change music. Any recommendations on something small and cheap. Thanks.
This item is not to be brought out of the house just small and portable for the inside.

you could buy some CD-RW's so you can keep changing the songs... or you could go for a cheap but good mp3 player. It would help if you mentioned how much memory you want the mp3 player to have.

hmm...well I have an ipod and I did not buy a dock for it I just bought this cable http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 and hooked it up to my stereo system. Actually you can plug it into anything that has an AUX output. If you have good computer speakers you can use those too. I sometimes use my computer speakers, tv, or even radio and they all work good. Docks are relatively expensive, especially good quality.

Yeah, just look for a boom box with a line input. I imagine that a line in would be pretty common these days (on all except for the really small/cheap, <$100 ones).
Then use the aforementioned cables to connect any MP3 player to it.
Note that you'll be running the MP3 player off battery in this type of setup.

To Dock or Not To Dock
Hi,
If you like the docking/auto charging aspect of the sound system, go with the non-video ipods. Docking systems are available in portable boom boxes, clock radios or book shelf units. In all price ranges.
Regular MP3/non video players will require you to connect it up to the computer for recharging. My son plugs his into his boom box & my daughter plugs hers into 3 watt computer speakers.
