mp3 as ringtunes for rogers phones?
Hi, I recently bought a S/E w580 from Rogers.
Everything works fine except when I tried to use some uploaded MP3 clips as ringtunes, the phone won't let me.
I figured probably Rogers locked the option for uploaded MP3s to be used as ringtunes since they'd probably want you to dl from their store and pay for it etc.
Anyway, I really want to see if there is a way to remove this lock.
Any help is appreciated.
thanks in advance

I had the same problem when I got my SE K790.
I looked around, but I found the only way to play MP3s as ring tones was to unlock the phone. But unlocking the K790 permanently wasn't easy or cheap. Since I just wanted to play MP3s as ring tones on my cell phone, hacking my phone wasn't worth it.
But there's hope! I just converted the MP3s to Apple's standard for audio MPEG-4 (.M4A) and they work perfectly!

You should be able to use the DRM packager from the SE website to convert your mp3's into .dm, which are playable as ringtones.
I use wotan-server to de-brand my W810i, which let me use mp3's as ringtones, as well as removing all the Rogers stuff (Mall).

I hope you mean unbranding. You can unbrand a phone but not unlock it.
Anyways, OP, try this: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1221924

you have to "purchase" ringtones from rogers and other WAP sites. But you DO purchase ringtones right? or do you want to get something that costs money for FREE?
