The only thing you can do to make it play longer on the same battery is to store it somewhere very close to your body. Somewhere, where it will be well above 0.
Other than that, just carry spare batteries.

MP3 + Skiing
So I tried skiing with my MP3 player for the first time on Sunday (iFP-390T for those wondering)
It takes a single AA battery and I used rechargeable Ni-MH...
Well, my battery didn't even last 2 hours! The cold just killed the battery life. What can I do to make it last longer? (It was in the pocket of my sweater)

.
LOL I had exactly the same problem today with my MP3, I slid it on the inside pocket of my jacket and it didn't even last me 2 hours, I was like WTF? I took it out and it was as cold as a pop from a pop machine.
Maybe put the MP3 inside a clean, new sock when you go skiing next time?

Try a alkaline or lithium battery?

I agree .... NiMH performance suffers quite a bit under subzero temp ... MP3 players are not high current-drained devices and cheap Alkaline should do the trick. Oversized Rooster's suggestion should work too. Your body temp during skiing should be way above zero

For digital cameras, lithium may be the only solution.Last edited by willy; Mar 5th, 2007 at 07:33 PM.
