Must see/do in LA?

I did a search and there were some good discussions on what to do/see when in LA...

I'm planning to go with some friends in 'bout a week for only 4 days and 3 nights, so I'm wanting recs on things/places we MUST see/go/etc since we're only there for such a short amount of time.

My friend isn't wanting to keen on Disneyland.. cuz he thinks it's too kiddy..

And any good shopping outlets?

Isn't that where the mudslides happened yesterday? All those expensive houses came tumbling down...

If you are star struck, get a map of the stars and drive thru Beverly Hills

Walk of Fame
Mann's Chinese Theatre
Disney Land
Universal Studios

Go to the visitor center in Hollywood (I found them very helpful in this regard, compared to going to the studio if you haven't already gotten tickets in advance) and get some tickets to a TV show taping...

Also, if you want to see a "real" movie studio - Paramount has a 2 hour walking tour that takes you behind the scenes of a working production facility (not the theme park and gift shop experince like Universal). I found it intersting, and you go through the FX shops, costume warehouses, etc, etc. Reservations are required...

Thanks Evil Techie!

Now another dilemma.... of the 3, Disneyland/California Adventure, Universal Studios, 6 Flags.. which of the 2 should we go to??

Right now we're leaning Disneyland and 6 Flags..

Suggestions?

depends what you like and how old are you

disneyland seems like its a kids only thing
6 flags is full of roller coasters so thats not to my likings

personally, id prefer universal studio
really a fun place to go to with all the new rides

but if you have kids, they might like disneyland better
and if you like thrill seeking rides, 6 flags would be good too
