MX518 and other mice
I heard this was really cheap and a lot of people got it for free after pricematch when they were clearing them out. Any reason why it's $70 now? What should I buy? I don't feel like paying that much for one when I know that I could've gotten it for free.

518 is a sweet mouse. I got a g5 on sale but still went back to the 518. Free eh?

If you want a premium mouse, you're going to have to pay a premium price or be patient and wait for some crazy deal. The cheapest recent deal I can think would be this Rosewill: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...C-C8junctionCA
If it really is 1600dpi it should have some gaming potential.

What's stopping me from wanting a new Merc or a Bimmer for $10k?
On a side note, that mouse looks like a hybrid MX1000 and an MX700 stuck together.

DPI is the last thing I would care about. Back in the day when MX510 was king, 800 DPI was the ultimate "gaming experience." So by that line of reasoning, MX510 would be unacceptable today?

Exactly, more DPI doesn't make you a better gamer. If you sucked in the first place, no mouse can save you.
Comfort is the most important imo.

IS this a rebrand of some major manufacturer? Looks like some sort of Logitech to me.

518 is nice, I have two of them, but I use a G5 now. I actually prefer the 518 buttons.

I have a G5 but I prefer the MX518 it replaced. If I could go back and do it over again, I would've paid the difference and gotten another MX518.
BTW, you can get it for $50 at some places. Check pricecanada.com

The Deathadder from that Voodoo Ebay guy a while back was a pretty good deal. I'm using one now and it's great.

I love my G7 - got it as a warranty replacement for a much cheaper MX610, so I can't complain
It's quite pricey at regular price though.

I'm still rocking all my MX5xx series mice. Started at MX500 -> MX510 Red -> MX510 Blue -> MX518. Still have all of them.
