You could always take it to court and demand to see the source code to the radar gun. As a defendant you have a right to view and examine all evidence against you, and I believe that the source code to the software that determines your speed is something you should be entitled to view, as you have no idea as to the accuracy of said source code. I'm no lawyer or anything, but I've gotten out of a ticket before doing that, they can't release the source code because it is proprietary, and they don't own it. Worth a try, not like you really have anything to lose over it.

my first speeding ticket
well officially i have my first speeding ticket, the officer gave ticket for doing 75 on a 50 zone ( about $120). He told me about my option to put it to court and trial and so on so forth. Also he mentioned about pleading not guilty to this charge and guilty to lesser charge and no reduction in point and lesser fine; (this supposed be hint of some kind).
What are my option, is there any points involved.
I only have G2 license, i don't think there is point system in G2.
Any traffic ticket expert here, any input would be great._______________

Take it to court and talk to the prosecutor. Not sure about 25 over .. its kind of in the middle, but when I talked to the prosecutor, she told me had my ticket been in lower (it was 28 over), she could have droped it to 15 over if I plead guilty. As she refused to drop it, I used ticket defenders and got it dropped.
Point being, try the first scenario first ... if that doesn't work, seek legal help.

At 25 over and probably 3 points you should be in a position to get it down to 15 and 2 points.
The folks that are in the business of fixing tickets can help you out for a fee, or you do it yourself.
A speeding ticket does not look good on your record, 2 even worse, at 3 you will have challenges securing insurance at a reasonable price.Last edited by AGR-1; May 13th, 2008 at 06:56 PM.

A Justice of the Peace can not lower the points for a speeding ticket. The JP can lower the fine, but not the points. The points are a ministry thing and have nothing to do with the court system.

so if you go to court and speak w. a prosecutor....what does the conversation sound like.....does one need to come up w. a good excuse for speeding (not that there really is one)or is it about bargaining
i was also told by a cop that you can take the ticket to court and they can reduce it to 10 over and no points....
i have tried Highway law in the past.....they got me off w. no points but had to pay them a good chunk of $$$$ and it does go on your file.
my major goal is to get off of the points.
any help would be great

Why are you worried about the points? Do you realize the points are all but meaningless? Your insurance company won't even look at how many points you have, they only look at convictions; minor and major.
Your insurance company will treat a 39 over the limit ticket the same as a 15 over the limit ticket. To them, it's the exact same ticket, regardless of whether you have 10 points or 0 points.
Convictions affect insurance rates, not points!_______________

That's not necessarily true...companies can define minor and major convictions differently. So some companies will have a higher limit for minor convictions than just the 15 over.
and to the OP, seeing how this is your first offense, I think they'll bump it down to 15 over with no points...when I got my first ticket, the cop was nice enough to do that on the spot for me.

You are lucky then, as you don't have a right to the source code. If it is an approved manufacturer/model and has an up to date calibration record then that is all that needs to be presented.
This is one reason why forces tend not to use equipment that other forces are not...Same as why DNA sequencing is almost always done on an ABI analyzer. If you tried some other piece of equipment it would be a red flag and cause doubt.
