My review on GEIL Value 1GB Value Kit
Ram prices have dropped a lot during this past weeks, you can find Hynix chipset generic 512MB DDR400 for as little at $51, now given this pair of 512MB Dual Channel kit is now selling for as little as $128, with lifetime warrenty and heatsink, the extra $26 does worth it unless you are on a very tight budget.
btw...http://www.logiccomputerhouse.com/si...detail&id=8072 has them for $128 plus tax and www.canadacomputers.com is selling at $129
My standard of stablibilty is either overnight Prime95 or overnight TmpGenc Plus encoding video non-stop.
Please note unlike PC2100 DDR which is rated at 2.5V all PC3200 (DDR400) is 2.6V standard unless specified by the Manufacturer.
Also 1T at any timings is always faster than 2T ie 1T 3-8-4-4 is faster than 2T 2.5-7-3-3
The Geil I have is rated 2.55v-2.95v 2.5-8-4-4 according to Geil and I have run it at 2.8V (DDR can run at this voltage safe, any higher will depends)
It is stable at 222mhz fsb with above timing and voltage, not stable at 245mhz fsb with above timing and voltage but can pass a few hours of play of any 3D games like Battlefield 1942 but since my motherboard is limited to 2.8v max, I have no way of testing it at this memory ceiling at 2.9V, but lowering the timings to 3-8-4-4 and 2T does improve stability. At stock timings 1T and 2.8V, it peaks out at around 231-235mhz 2.5-8-4-4-1T. Not bad at all for the price.
If you compare to OCZ Premier, stock voltage at 2.6 and 2.7v-2.8v doesn't help much it peaks out at 225mhz fsb with 2.5-7-3-3-1T
Generic Samsung, which tops out at 220-222mhz 2.7v, 2.8v doesn't help much. 2.5-7-4-4-1T
IMO, if you overclock your memory, this Geil kit at present price is well worth the money.
BTW, tested on a 939 pin AMD 64 3000+ with Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 motherboard.

Good brief and to the point review. I may pick a set up.
Thanks
