Is my shipped package lost .. ?

Hey RFDers!

I don't buy online merchandise often, so have a quick question for you veterans.

According to the provided tracking number of the package, the following information is available on Canada Post:

2011/08/27 01:12 International item has left the origin country and is en route to Canada
2011/08/26 15:46 International item mailed in origin country

So it has been about 7 business days since it has been "en route to Canada", which seems like quite some time. From what I gather, the item has been shipped from China via EMS. It is already outside the quoted 7 - 10 days mentioned from the business, as the order was placed on August 22.

So -- is this normal? Should I just continue to wait? Since it seems to be outside of China and not yet in Canada (i.e. in limbo), I am not really sure who to contact if necessary.

Any comments are welcome.

Thanks!

Only 6 business days, nothing to worry about, you shouldnt expect anything until sometime next week at the earliest.

Thanks Ojam, that puts me at ease. Not sure why they quoted "7 - 10 days" to begin with, but if this is normal for a package from China to Canada then that's fine.

lol @ pupazzo ..

If you haven't received it in a month's time then you should get worried.

I've had stuff shipped from Japan via EMS and it took almost 2 months to arrive. It's probably on a boat somewhere and taking the long route.

The reason I pay the premium to buy things closer to home is because, the price to ship time differential, has become absurd. I used to order things from China because the price was far lower than anyone could come close to here. However, I got fed up waiting for a minimum of 3 weeks to get things to Canada and then have customs sit on the package before sending it to the slower than cold tar on an Inuit February day, Canada Post. More often than not, the tracking would also freeze and then I would have packages just show up out of nowhere, many weeks (or in one case 3 freaking months) later.

Thanks for the above comment, as well!

Thought I'd close this thread off with a final comment on its delivery, which, thankfully, was delivered today.

2011/09/12
11:37 Attempted delivery. Notice card left indicating where item can be picked up.
06:13 Item out for delivery
05:10 Item processed at local delivery facility
2011/09/08
19:28 RICHMOND Item processed at postal facility
14:46 VANCOUVER Item was released by Customs and is now with Canada Post for processing
2011/09/07
23:50 VANCOUVER International item arrived in Canada and will be reviewed by Customs
2011/08/27
01:12 International item has left the origin country and is en route to Canada
2011/08/26
15:46 International item mailed in origin country

The item itself was ordered on August 22, 2011, although was mailed on the 26th of August as shown above.

Moral of the Story:
1) Don't believe any listed shipping times on a website; no one can confirm the date you'll receive it, especially when coming overseas.
2) Buy locally (even at a premium) if you want items faster - China to Canada (Ontario) was about 3 weeks, but can be longer.

Thanks to all for your comments and help.
