My TV just blew up
Well after almost 15 years my 29" RCA decided to blow up.
Kids turned it on and all there is now is a nice horizontal line. Pretty colour though
Last time I took it in the tech said the Blue gun was going. He said the TV could last 5 minutes or 5 years. Well its been 4 so I shoudnt complain. Every once ina while the whites would go real bright or have a green haze, and balcks were more like chocolate brown some days, but it still had a good picture when it was fine. It was mostly for the kids anways so it didnt matter.
Now I havo to get a new TV. I hatre shopping for things in haste.
Now heres my dillemma, do I take my good Toshiba 16:9 tv I have in my rec room and put it up there and buy a real good Plasma for my movies, etc. Or just buy another 30" TV for upstairs.
I havent researched TV's for awhile. Guess maybe a a look around town may help.
Just didnt need this right now. We just bought a new couch set for our rec room. So moneys a bit tight
Ideas, thoughts, etc_______________
I'm going back to Cali, rising, surprising, Advising realizing, she's sizing me up - Her bikini - small; heels - tall - She said, she liked, the ocean
She showed me a beach, gave me a peach - and pulled out the suntan lotion

Walmart has a nice 20 inch diamondvision for $99.
Should hold you for awhile. Then when you have time shop for a deal on a plasma and sell the 20 inch for $50. So you get the use of a new tv for $50.

Check Costco for a stopgap tv...they're good for those and higher quality ones as well.

I better elaborate more. We have a nice corner entertainment center that will fit up to a 32" TV. Its more than the kids that watch it, my wife does as well. If Im going to buy a TV its gonna be a good one to last a long time.

Well went over the few scenarios/options with my wife. Pros, cons, etc.
First scenario: Just buy a 32" CRT TV that would fit nicely in the old entertainment centre. Its a solid oak one, not a cheapy one and its a corner fit one that works perfect for our upstairs living room. This way would be the easiest and cheapest. I may also look into an LCD or Plasma that may fit too, but it would have to be the 4:3 ratio
Second scenario: Move my Toshiba 16:9 CRT that I won from Futureshop upstairs. Downfall to that is making it fit where we want it. Plus selling another piece of furniture which is always a pain. Then buy myself a huge Plasma, Saw a sweet 60 plus inch one in Leons the other day. Panasonic, but well over $5000. After buying a new truck I want to keep payments low for awhile.
Third sceanrio. Still move the Toshiba upstairs, but invest in a good projector for my rec room. Get a pull down screen etc. Disadvantage to that is all the work it will be for wiring, installation, etc. Plus how eay would it be for just watching TV. Also, having to buy a cabinet for all my audio/video equipment
My wife is all for scenario one, easiest and cheapest. Then a few years down the road maybe invest in a Plasma after all this High Definition signal stuff is all decided on.
Time wise scenario one would be the least stressful for me. I really dont have time to do lots of shopping for Plasma or a good projector_______________

Well after hours of stores, etc I think I found one at Leons
A 26" Panasonic Tau 16:9 CT-26WX15
The only tube thats HDTV ready. Not that it was a huge concern,
But for $499 I think the price is right. Some of the 4:3 ratio ones are the same price.
Here are some other I found that were good I thought. These are all 4:3 ratio and flat screen
Toshiba 27" - 27AF45C - $342 at the Bay (cheapest)
Sony 27" - KV27F5120 - $400 at Futureshop (cheapest)
JVC I'art 27" - Av27F476 - $387 at the Bay (cheapest)
Panasonic Tau 27" - CT275L15 - $403 at the Bay (cheapest)
Panasonic Tau 26" W/s and High Def ready - $500 at Leon (only place in town)
Samsung 27" - TXR2735 - $298 at Visions (cheapest)
Toshiba 27" - 26AFX55 - $399 at Leon (cheapest)
I think Im going to go for this one. They will be in on Tuesday
Panasonic Tau 26" W/s and High Def ready - $500 at Leon (only place in town)
With the wide screen and the price, I think it will be good compared to the 4:3 ratio and be high def ready.
Thought, ideas. Anyone have expereinces with any of these TV's
ThanksLast edited by Spidey; Mar 12th, 2006 at 06:10 PM.

Did some online searches and the next cheapest I can find for the Panasonic CT-26WX15 is at the Source at $800.
The reviews look good too. SO I think this will be the one for me. Weird how you can find good deals by accident_______________
