If what you were saying were true you might as well just forget about audio in the car altogether becuase it's all going to sound the same, all like a 1950s radio LOL.
I fear you may have missed my point.
I hear differences, but those differences are easily drowned out by things I explained earlier. Road noise, wind noise, traffic noise.
I can hear the difference between low quality MP3 and CD quality. Definitely.
A decent car-fi setup (the stock Mark Levinson setup on my father's car for example) vs a really crappy one. For sure.
Hell, I even asked your personal on advice for decent quality aftermarket audio equipment. So I don't see how you can make the conclusion that "if what I said were true, then whatever isn't needed".
I digress. There is a place for aftermarket audio.
But the question is: to *this* extreme? MSRP of $1700 on a deck? Over $2k in a system?
My original point still stands.
I can hear differences between low bitrate mp3 and redbook CDs. I can hear differences between a crummy earphones and my half-decent tube driven home setup. For sure.
(my closest analogy) But the difference between lame preset -V2 and lossless on a PORTABLE DEVICE i definitely cannot. On my undriven UM1 and on driven/dedicated DAC Westone 3s, in a moving subway. Not a chance.
So this is my point. I'm not saying there's no market for it upgrading car-fi in general. A couple of hundred or a grand.. .sure.
But to the extremes of spending thousands upon thousands for that much more resolution? I doubt.
I question ultra high end car-fi.... not aftermarket audio in general.

No, I do not want to enter sound competitions because I think you have to have one brand like completely pioneer or kenwood or jl. I am just trying to build an amazing system. Thanks ES_Revenge for your input and yes, I am aware of why I am interested in the Nakamichi. But in all these talks, no one has been able to tell me where I can get them in Toronto or the GTA

i don't think they have a cdn distributor anymore, I have always bought online. Clarion is a differnet story. Shouldn't have anyproblem with them. I've even seen store stock eclipse now too.
I think my next deck is the clarion NX4.
Sorry that's all i know. BTW,othing listed on nakamichi site either
