A Natural Treatment For High Blood Pressure/Arterioscelosis?

Has anyone used, or heard of, what is often now called the Pauling Therapy for high blood pressure and coronary disease?

If not, It is a supplemental treatment regimen that was originated by dual nobel prize winner Linus Pauling and his partner Matthias Rath. It consists of mega doses of Vitamin C and the amino acids Lysine and Proline. All over the counter supplements with few side effects/interactions for most people. It is unproven clinically, but their theory is that cardiovascular disease is primarily a vitamin C deficiency disease, that causes small stress ruptures in the arterial walls to be repaired by a secondary mechanism, Lipoprotein(a) deposits, instead of collagen formation, due to inadequate levels of vitamin C (ascorbate) in the blood stream. This, they say, stems from humans inability to manufacture their own ascorbate, like most other mammals do, and having chronically lower levels of it than these other mammals. They also apparently discovered that the Lipoprotein (a) deposition occurred where there were strands of Lysine in the vascular walls and that supplementing with this helped to keep new deposits from forming and actually helped old formations to dissolve. You be the judge.

If you have used this, I would like to hear about it. If you haven't and think it might be an option for you, I strongly suggest doing as much research as possible, and talking to your Doctor about it beforehand. Even if he/she is not recommending it, at least you can establish with them that it will not interact with any other medications or adversely affect any current medical conditions.
