they're getting a slightly better return than the VC trade but D12 is worth more than VC

I've been analyzing this trade for a couple hours now and looking at everything, I'm getting a feeling that this was definitely a desperation trade from all parties.
The Nuggets I can't say much about other than the fact that they are stacked in the forward position with Wilson Chandler, Gallo, and now Andre Iguodala. With Iguodala, while he doesn't quite fill in much for scoring night in night out, he gives the Nuggets a strong defensive player who the Nuggets need. However, to get Iguodala they had to give up 3 players and a protected 1st round pick, with one of those players being Aaron Afflalo who is a great scorer.
The Magic wanted to get rid of Dwight Howard and his problems once and for all and settled with what the best they could get immediately. Also, along with Howard they got rid of Jason Richardson's contract.
The Lakers desperately wanted Dwight Howard paired with newcomer Steve Nash and Kobe, as well as wanting to form a HUGE duo on the frontcourt with Gasol. They wanted D12 from the start, and wouldn't settle for anything less (unless they absolutely had to) so they made the decision to acquire him regardless of the extension or not which could end up being bad for LA since reports are saying that Howard has gone on record to say that if the Lakers don't work out for him he will likely leave next season in Free Agency.
The 76ers situation is similar to the Lakers. They have been desperately wanting to trade Iguodala for a few years now which they have finally done now, but in return they acquired Andrew Bynum. Yes, Bynum is a great center and a current Top 2 center in the league right now, however the bad side of this deal is that the 76ers acquired Bynum without getting any verbal commitment or contract extension. Bynum could very well be a "one time" thing if the Sixers don't surround him with better players or if they are not in a winning situation. Much like Dwight Howard, if the Sixers don't work out for Bynum, expect him to walk and become a free agent._______________

No, any team WILL sign him long term. They'd be stupid not to. Howard is a center and perhaps the best C in the league. Center's are rare in the NBA right now, especially the kind that have his talent and size. If he wasn't a Center, he wouldn't be receiving this much buzz from multiple teams in the league.

Not at all costs especially if he becomes a cancer to the team and organization.
