Most of those Atom based boards only come with 2 or 3 sata ports on-board though... and usually only have a single PCI slot (so not sure how many PCI slot type SATA controllers there are). The Acer WHS @ $300 is a steal, you can always add an external 4-bay drive case with the eSata port on the back of the Acer... I have it and it works well... got the external case from Newegg.ca for $160 free shipping). Not on sale at the moment, but it was this device:

I wonder if anyone has this problem. I created a user and grant him the RDP right. However when I try to login with RDP I got the message saying the user has no right and should be added to the Remote Desktop User group.
The thing is the user IS in the Remote Desktop User group. RDP is al;so enabled in remote settings. I can RDP using the Administrator account fine.

Is the user a member of the Administrators group? On full blown Windows Servers, it doesn't matter what right you give them if the server is not a "terminal server". If it is just terminal server for remote admin, then only users wiht admin rights can connect, regardless of how you might want to set it up.

Just put Windows 7 Ultimate on the laptop from the deal. I didn't get my free Windows 7 f'rom Acer yet but I installed the free one from the Microsoft House Party event. It installed effortlessly on the laptop and found drivers for all the devices.
Also stuck 3 more SATA drives in the server. It is super easy, it finds them right away. You don't have to power down or anything, just stick 'em in and format 'em. Nice!
There is a new BIOS for the laptop . The weird thing is it says 'OE' next to the BIOS version. It also jumps from 1.26 up to 2.30. Anybody try this latest BIOS update yet, dated Oct 9/2009? UPDATE - installed it today. OE must mean Olympic Edition cause now there is a Olympic ring logo when I boot up. Also, lots of Windows 7 drivers posted as of 10/15 on the Acer site.Last edited by sprung; Oct 22nd, 2009 at 02:52 AM.

wake on lan, suspend and Power consuption?
I am considering the acer easystore h340 but I am not sure how well wake on lan, sleep, suspend mode works.
Can it go to sleep mode and use only 1-2 watts (like a laptop or pc) and then wake on lan from this mode? If yes, how fast does it go from sleep to wake mode?
I read elsewhere that it has a suspend but that this mode uses 20watts which is way too much. Is there no real suspend mode on this?
