The windows and alt key is swappable on the Filco (ie. by removing the keycaps and swapping), and you can choose an option in the OS to swap these keys so the keyboard layout is like the one on "Mac" keyboards... if that is what you mean. Otherwise I have no idea what you meant, lol.
I mean, how is a keyboard "native" to an OS?

I was looking at the Filco's but as soon as I saw the Storm Trigger I knew it was the keyboard I wanted. I picked one up last weekend at Memx price matching best direct. I wanted hte macro keys, media keys and full back light. The build quality seems to be very good, nice layout and wrist wrest. Also back lighting only the wasd keys for example. Only thing is the macros seem to be a bit finicky.

I think the best keyboard was the old Apple ADB Extended Keyboard 2. I believe they were mechanical and heavy and cost $200+. In thosed days, keyboards were sold separately! Something to buy after you have just spent $8000 for your Mac II. Good old days

These look just as generic as my daskeyboard (that's a plus in my books, I'm tired of seeing these cheap christmas lit 'gaming' keyboards), so I can't really see any reason to get the next best 'enthusiast' keyboard.
But to those who don't know why mechanical keyboards cost so much more than your standard keyboard, its all in the typing experience. Trust me, once you go mechanical, there's no going back. I've had tons of friends try my keyboard and be really impressed by it (to a point where they bought different variations of mechanical keyboards, usually Razr's Blackwidow because its cheap-er). Then again, it all depends on how much you value and care about your typing experience. I have some friends with beefy gaming rigs but generic Logitech mice and keyboards so its entirely up to how much you care about typing._______________Heatware

Yes, I agree Filco is a good brand, but still expensive
Why don't just buy a original Cherry kb?

I've been trying to justify the purchase of the Filco recently... just can't get myself to buy it... for the 149.99 it comes out to around $170 after tax, that's a lot to shell out for a keyboard.
I'll wait for a sale :P
...and wtf is with the new RFD reply box, I can't tab and enter to submit a reply anymore...

I used to think people who were into mechanical keyboards were idiots, but once I bought my first $30 mechanical keyboard it really made a difference and I completely turned my opinion around. Makes it a lot easier to type, and if you spend more than a few hours in front of the computer, which you probably do, it's worth getting.

I used to bad mouth mechanical keyboards all the time, blah blah, no features, what nerdssssssss.
Then a co-worked brought in the razer with mx blues and I was amazed. I needed this clicky thing. The feel is just so much different. I do miss some features from my G15, but the feel is so much better and the Storm Trigger had enough features to convert me. I did get mx browns though as I didn't want the clicking of the blues.
