Any questions about the TS-431p-US? I picked one up when they were released in January. Its my first NAS and is working well - as long as you dont expect it to be able to do transcoding on the fly.
Can it handle apps via Docker? I'm looking for a single unit to handle some home automation middleware.

There are no apostrophes in plurals! "I have 1000 posts" = correct. "I have 1000 post's" = incorrect!
Could've, would've, should've. It's simple English, people!
Voila: French, meaning "There it is!" or "Look!" Viola: A medium-sized stringed instrument Wala: An island of Vanuatu.

Qnap TS-431p-US seems to be on sale for $360 everywhere.
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX64898

It's strange that Qnap would release a unit with a 300mhz CPU and 10% performance bump for $150 less than an older, slower unit. It's usually the other way around.
I thought I read somewhere that the older models are being discontinued soon/now. Not all retailers have put out the older models for clearance.

I did notice that Mike's Computer has the TS-431+ on sale for same price ($360) this week

I haven't tried, but as i recall, the ARM chipset QNAPs are not recommended for Docker.. Also theres only 1G ram in total.

QNAP TS-431p for $300 at memoryexpress

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX64898
Thanks lurker99. I picked up the TS-431p this weekend. So far so good. Seems like it will serve the purpose for basic storage at home. I don't really have a need to stream via plex so I don't need anything more powerful at this point. I had no problems using the QNAP video app on my phone/tablet to test a couple 1080p files. I would recommend this box if you can get it on sale for the $300 price. Cheap 4 bay.

MemoryExpress has a 24 hour sale on the QNAP TS-451A 4-bay (2GB RAM model) for $549.99 today only (April 5, 2017). This has the Intel Celeron N3060 1.6ghz dual core processor. NCIX is selling this on sale for $590.

Hey guys I need a NAS for storage purposes, small business looking at a 4 bay QNAP
I wont be doing any movie streaming or anything strictly to store photos and videos, 2-3 people could be accessing the files at the same time.

Considering these:
TS-451+ $584
QNAP NAS TS-451A-4G $669
QNAP TS-453A $789

I think the 451+ is fine for my purposes but i dont really understand the full capabilities of a NAS and how the specs affect the performance that i need.

Open to other suggestions as well.

Thanks,
