Model numbers are the exact same; I doubt the dash makes a difference. And Asus only released one dock for the Nexus 7 as far as I know.

i can think of a couple explanations:

1) supply chain error, some importer/exporter company who handles the product made a typo and entered the same item twice one with a typo (since - and 0 are next to each other, this is quite possible). Since most supply chain systems nowadays are digital, the retailers probably carried this error all the way along from their suppliers, and since the - is hardly noticeable, it did not get caught, and when it came to stock checking at the retailer, the older dated one was probably put on a lower price since they too did not know the real difference and cannot find any information on it.

2) asus switched suppliers due to manufacturers falling out of spec, or other unforeseen circumstances. Hence old stock from old manufacturer will be lower price to clear inventory.

3) asus did a design update, with same product, with very minor spec changes so old ones are being cleared inventory like number 2).

p.s. ordered one, thanks OP originally didn't want to get it since $40 is just plain money grab from asus, but this deal made me pull the trigger

Can anyone tell me if any of these docks utilize the 4 pin/dot connector on the bottom edge of the unit or do they require plugging a connecting cable into the micro USB slot?

The usb cable goes into the back of the dock, while the n7 is charged by the 4pins in the dock

Thank you for bringing this up. I am sad to see that no one thanked my original post on the NCIX thread for this heads up Either way I placed my order around 8PM last night and it did say it was in stock with more than 10 units at the BC warehouse. I did an in store pick up vs shipping to my house. Save the extra money. So I don't mind waiting.

Also to clarify - Asus has only released ONE official dock. This price is the cheapest vs Memory Express and Visions stores in the West coast.

The only thing I bought was the Nexus 7 Dock which is $27.54 vs other retailers like ME for $39.99. The BC warehouse has more than 10 in stock it seems.
