I was considering buying one of these from infonec. Looks like I will order from NCIX instead. Thanks for the tip.

NCIX: pre-order Asus EEE 1000HE 9.5h $450
OK, I mentioned in another thread and I think it is worth to start a new thread for it (hope it is not a waste of space).
I received the email from NCIX for pre-order Asus EEE 1000HE, which is the newer model with 9.5h battery life. The price is $450, I believe the price includes a pre-order discount promotion by Asus, with free shipping when you buy $10 GC and saving of 8% PST for Ontario residents, I think it is a pretty good deal consider old versions sells for more than this. Also you can buya free printer (after MIR of course) with it as well.

Free shipping when you buy $10 GC

Free printer after MIR (you can see the detail from the Asus EEE link)
Edit: the MIR form from Asus EEE link seems to be faulty (rebate time is wrong), the MIR link from the following seems to be right.
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...k&promoid=1001
PS: according to several users' post, you can price match directcanada at NCIX to save a few more bucks, but I am unsure whether you can get the free printer after MIR and do the price match at the same time (check post #14 for links from directcanada).
Update March 31: deleted free printer and free shipping with GC purchase from the title, watch NCIX's weekly sale as they occasionally bring back free shipping with GC purchase, directcanada has free shipping all the time.Last edited by rivet; Mar 31st, 2009 at 09:45 AM. Reason: delet free shipping and free printer from the title

wonder if this is the one with the newer N280 processor.. which uses the faster FSB compared with the N270..
although the processor speed isn't really much faster.. 1.66 vs 1.60.. the fsb should make a slight difference in speed.
too bad the site is rather vague on details.

SO it costs the same from the US @ 450 but you save $25 dollars in GST....
How much do you think you spend in Gas and time to get down there though, plus you have no warranty through the retailer, and chances are you have no warranty through Asus in Canada either, they have their CA and US versions most likely.
Definitely not worth the savings buying it from the U.S.

Since NCIX is a sponsor of RFD, can I assume it's a good reputable company? Has anybody got any bad experience with them?
I am debating if I should order it with NCIX or buy it at Infonec that is right behind my house.. NCIX would save me the PST, but I would have to wait for the shipping where as Infonec, I can just pick it up..

But the gift card isn't really free, right? You still have to pay $10. Although you get free shipping with it, you'd automatically get free shipping with orders over $300 at DC. If know you will make more orders with NCIX, then obviously it's better to get this from them. However, if you're unsure, then you would save more money by ordering directly from DC.
