[Newegg] Optical Quantum 25GB BD-R 50-spindle $28 + $10 shipping

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6817607054
Hot price for anyone wanting BD-Rs. Lowest price that I have ever seen.

49.99 regular price

34.99 sale price
-7.00 with promo code: CEMCWPHP39
+6.99 shipping
+9.99 shipping (Newegg likes to change shipping rates  )
= 37.98 + tax

If you're in Southern Ontario, there is free pickup in Mississauga.

These are Optical Quantum branded, which is owned by Vinpower.
I bought these a year or two ago, and they were Philips R04. They worked well with my Asus/Lite-On drive.

There's also Optical Quantum 6x discs, regular priced at $34.99, with $7.60 shipping

From reviews, it says these are CMCMAG-BA5-000, which I have no experience with. The 4x CMC BA3, though, were comparable with the Philips R04.

Pickup place is in Mississauga if I remember correctly.

I personally would prefer BD-RE though.

I used the (6x) ones and they were not reliable. There were read errors on the disc after burning. The media code is LGEBRA506. This seems to be the only brand that has failed me on my LG burner.

Shipping is $9.99 for me. Comes to 42.92 with tax.

I have a CanadaComputers store here in Kingston. How do these discs compare? they are cheaper for me to just pick up.

Yeah, sorry, Newegg decided to bump up the shipping rate. It's pretty common for them to do so. I bought two spindles last night, and shipping was $8.93.

I've added the 6x Quantum Opticals to the original post, which some may prefer. Don't know how these are $35 regular price when the 4x ones are $50 regular.
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6817607061 <-- Note that shipping for these is $7.60.
If you have a writer that's a few years old, you may want to stick with the tried and true 4x.

As to the Ridata ones, I've used 4x RIT BR2. They were slightly below 4x Philips and CMC with my Asus/Lite-On, but on my brother's LG, they did quite well on the error scan.

I avoid all LTH BD-Rs, and would not recommend them.

It depends what you want to burn on them. If longevity is a factor, zo would stay away from this media. I would recommend Falcon or Panasonic media instead.
