Newegg's shell shocker for today - Synology DS212J Diskless System DiskStation Budget-friendly 2-bay NAS Server for Small Office and Home Use.
Should pair up nicely with the two 3TB WD Red drives I just ordered from ME.
Sorry, fixed link.

What great timing on the 3TB WD Reds and this. I bought the same DS212J a while ago and it has been amazing. So I am picking up another. (my wallet hates RFD - lol)

Thanks for sharing. one note: you will not be able to stream HD video from this device, it supports up to 10fps for HD streaming.

That's a good price. I almost picked one up over the holidays for $199, but went for the DS213 at $299 instead.

What is the advantage of these things, say, over, Drobo? Does it support growing partition size without destroying and rebuild the array? (One thing I hate about Drobo right now, since I have to destroy and rebuild my array to increase the partition size).

I already have one of these. If I get another one, do you guys know if they can be daisy-chained together? Or can it be daisy-chained with a 112j?

What are you talking about? It supports Gigabit ethernet speeds. The 10fps limitation is for Surveillance Station, one of the packages using IP cameras for home monitoring.
Why do people post such ignorant statements when they obviously have no technical knowledge whatsoever?Last edited by The English Hacker; Feb 14th, 2013 at 04:04 PM.

Great deal. This will stream HD no problem. If you're going the NAS route, get Synology and you wont be disappointed.
I debated going the NAS route for streaming video. However, my Serviio setup has yet to disappoint. I need to have my computer on to stream to TV, but big deal its always on when I'm home anyways. Doesn't affect my BF3 gaming either.Last edited by chrischris84; Feb 14th, 2013 at 04:12 PM.
