Need a budget Computer Build..QUICK!
Hello All..
I'm computer of 6 years has died and I need a computer to do some accounting work asap.
I'm looking for computer in the $300-$400.
I'm looking for a motherboard,CPU and memory, onboard graphics is ok.
I have a new PSU and I still want to use my IDE Drives because all my information is in there.
I want the componets fast, so I prefer to pick up in Toronto, ie Canada Computers, Infonec, etc.
I'm just looking for something that can surf, a bit of photoshop, and some accounting work. So basic is good enough, though an HDMI port might be nice.
Or if someone can recommend a whole system under $400, that is good too.
Thanks.

Just a reminder - new motherboards only have ONE PATA cable for two drives. Remember that when planning to reuse optical or hard drives. It might be worth buying a new SATA hard drive and DVDRW.
After 6 years, I'd definitely get a new hard drive... old drives have higher fail rates._______________

I guess it depends what you mean by this. If you mean... harddrive that were made 5 years ago were built poorly and dont last long then I would disagree with you.
If you mean because it already has 5 years of wear & tear on it, there is a higher chance of failure, then I agree._______________

This might actually be easier than terrybear's suggestion (terry's looks like you have to build it yourself).
Better off saving yourself the trouble + headache, and get that Dell, it already comes with Windows Vista, then go grab an external harddrive with IDE support and you're good to go!_______________
