I heard from friends they rented Avis for 4 days from Saskatoon to drive to Calgary unlimited kms. $80 for 4 days if they brought back the car with the tank full.

If you can avoid the airport and downtown locations for car rental agencies, you will get a much better price. I'm looking for a car during the Aug long weekend and am getting rates of $29/day from Thrifty for an economy/compact and roughly $23/day from Enterprise for the same type of car.

You can get a Toyota Matrix with Thrifty for a total of $206.00 with unlimited kilometers off site from the airport. You could also use corporate code 1660221168 which is just for the property management company of building downtown and get it for $225.00 including unlimited mileage and free additional driver which is usually $10.00/day extra.
