Need help blocking this staircase...
So I need suggestion of blocking this staircase so our 1 and 2 yer old don't go up the stairs. This is our family room and we spent a good 90% of our time here and need something that will stop them from going up the stairs but I would need access to go up/down.
The stairs to the right needs the gate...

I dont want anything they can hang onto...something like this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Evenflo-Ea...-Gate/13264746
So far I cam across this gate, but the issue is it doesn't have a option for me to go in/out:

We also have a Superyard XT, http://www.walmart.com/ip/North-Stat...t-Gate/8457890 can we use it to basically close of the whole area? I wont have a issue about going in/out if this covers the whole area from the carpet. The one above looks like it needs to go on the stairs so it'll be higher for me. Im about 5"2

The treads on the inside radius looks pretty narrow - you sure the builder can't extend the handrail all along up the wall side? That would be more of a safety issue in the long run with kids if the inside tread isn't the minimum 9" depth. Either that, or expect that wall to be marked up as people use it to balance themselves.

Can you just set up your existing super yard like this? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Regalo-4-i...ndingMethod=rr

Best solution I have would be a kidco gate with the Y spindle adapters to aid in installation on the rod iron.

At one of my other homes we had open stairs, no rail on the one side at all (ekk!). We ended up just barricading the whole area with one of these:

Keep in mind that pressure-mount gates like the one you posted aren't meant for staircases...they're for doorways like the entrance to a kitchen or bedroom. You have to hardware install staircase gates
