Need help! Flight cancelled due to the winter storm! Credit card Insurance

I have round trip from Halifax to HongKong. I paid by my TD Aeroplan Visa Platinum Credit Card in full (I am the card holder and the domestic flight is with Westjet). Now I am back and stuck at Toronto Pearson airport. The flight cancelled due to the winter storm. I am trying to call the insurance phone they provide to me, however, the line is too hot to connect right now, Anyone knows whether I can claim for the cost such like the hotel or food since my credit card provide Flight/Trip Delay Insurance and/or Trip interrupt Insurance?

Yea, you should be able to claim under trip interruption but there would be limitations relating to length of delay (they would only cover you for a hotel, for example, if your trip was delayed longer than X hours and there may be other conditions. You would need to review your wording (information should be online) or call.

Isn't West Jet doing anything for you?

Sorry to hear you are stuck, I think the link above was incorrect. You mention TD Aeroplan Platinum right? One level below infinite? Looks like you have up to $500 in reasonable expenses if the delay is over 4 hours.

Best of luck, stay warm and hit a bar near the airport, you'll probably not be the only one stuck.

Here is a direct link to your ENTIRE credit card agreement.

http://www.tdcanadatrust.com/document/P ... ane%20Visa%

edit looks like something wonky is happening with the links to the actual cardholder PDF try this

http://www.tdcanadatrust.com/document/P ... 533812.pdf[/b]

Edit2 try copy and pasting the above, something with RFD LinkSynergy is sending it to the wrong cards page (should be an actual PDF linked to). At least it is for me.

How do you get that? Just ask an agent?

I read that and was also puzzled. You can try a gate agent but they may not be in the right position to do that. As with any insurance claim it is up to the adjustor. Many flights were delayed recently due to weather so my guess is they wouldn't harp on that vs perhaps a delay that isn't as widely recorded such as a charter plane in Cuba being delayed due to mechanical.

Gate agents may not be there, or if there may be swamped by passengers lining up to reschedule or others.

Years ago when we encountered flight delay/interruption situation, I went online to check flight status, and took a screen print showing the flight delay. That was sufficient to prove the flight delay situation.

From what you submit, the insurance adjusters can also check to see there were flight issues, to confirm themselves.

Did you claim any expenses you are trying to get reimbursed? I think it would really help the RFD community if you reply back with a post about your claim experience. Including what they covered and how easy it was.

A lot of people end up here through google so I think it is important to share, especially for people stranded and may not have time or willingness to post for help. I think a lot of people are gun shy about spending the full $500, even if it is reasonable.
