Need Suggestions for a Nice dinner on Sat

I'm looking at places like Panorama or Canoe but both are closed on the weekend for private functions.
It's for my gf's bday so anything along the lines of those 2 places would be great. View and/or food!!
prices don't bother me so no need to ask about budget.

George is a nice romantic restaurant. The area (Queen St East/Church I think) isn't the greatest though, so don't think about walking around after dinner.

No view but the food is good and wonderful ambience/food. Pricey though.

If you are looking for a view with decent food, you can always try 360 on top of the CN Tower.

I haven't been in years but the food was actually decent when I had it and the view was spectacular. Ask for a table near the window.

I would vote against 360. I found the food there to be mediocre at best. I personally like Auberge du Pommier, North 44, Spendido.

Bymark is a great restaurant... romantic ambience and great food... $28 for a lobster poutine but it's freaking noice!

i was thinking north 44 or bymark as my back up but i've been checking reviews and the food doesn't seem that stellar, the service seems to be outstanding though...
that's for the tips, i'll check out the other ones and see
i work at queen and victoria so downtown is not a problem

Don't bother with Canoe or Panorama. If you want a really great meal, bump it up to Splendido. The room is okay, not the most romantic, (moreso than canoe though, IMO), but it is the best service and food you'll get in Toronto. It's soon flipping over to a more casual scale, so I'd go if you could. It is a step up in $$ from Canoe. I've recently been to both, so I have a very recent comparison and well, there's just none.

Auberge du Pommier is in North York, but feels like you've stepped into a french cottage. The patio isn't open until June or July. A pity. Really nice though, same ownership as canoe, but I prefer Auberge. Get their creme brulee. More for atmoshpere than food.

But really. Splendido has fantastic food and is what I consider the last fine-dining restaurant in Toronto. They're doing their best 8 dishes of the last 8 years in celebration of the hand-over. I have photos from my meal, but I've yet to post them. It's the closest in Toronto that I've ever gotten to The French Laundry in Napa.

Have recently had great meals at a local great restaurant, Lolo, at Yonge and Eglinton. It's quite bustling and a neighbourhood favourite. They have a 3 course prix fixe menu and the items come from the regular menu. If you want something that isn't asterisked on the menu (indicates a part of the prix fixe) you can just pay the difference (like $1 more for the lamb). Great service and they have amazing starter bread. I highly recommend it and it is recommended by others on chowhound.
