New African Scam--Beware

I'm Joy and my husband are on a Christian missionary work to west Africa and I came along with our teacup Yorkshire terrier
babies.after a while, I notice that the African weather is not good
for the puppies.I need someone to adopt both and take care of
Them.they are akc registered:teacup.home raised,vaccines & health guaranteed.hope to hear from you soon.regards,joy Adams


This looks like some new scam ... To me, at least. If I were to
reply (likely, since everyone loves puppies) I'm sure they'll need
tons of cash, my bank acct number, my mother's maiden name and to get the darlin' pups.

And I found this on line:

I answered an ad placed by someone who had an AKC Registered very young female Chihuahua free to a good home. Turned out he was in another country and the climate was not good for the Chihuahua. Both the ad placer and his wife were missionaries and could not leave but didn't want the Chihuahua to suffer so they were willing to give her to someone back in "the states" to save the poor darling Chihuahua. All that was asked of me was to pay the shipping charges which amounted to $340. And, as soon as they received a money order from me in that amount they would place the Chihuahua on a flight the next day.

This email correspondence was turned over to the authorities also because there isn't an airline anywhere that will fly a cargo pet into the Las Vegas heat in the month of August and I knew it had to be a scam. It was!
Also, in re-reading the correspondence in both cases, certain subtle English gramatical issues occur which raise additional red flags as to the origin of the letter-writer.
My hope is that everyone be alerted to these scams so that they are not needlessly separated from their 'money'.

Scam....in the Vancouver Province about a month ago there was an article about a man that got scammed trying to buy a puppy from abroad. I am on my way out but when I get home I will see if I can find a link online to it.

Sooke man out $1,800 after being duped by Cameroon puppy scam

A Sooke man has learned the hard way not to buy a puppy from someone in Cameroon.

The man, who was not identified by police, called Sooke RCMP to report he was lost about $1,800 after responding to an ad for boxer puppies posted on UsedVictoria.com, a popular website to buy and sell used goods.

The man responded to the ad and agreed to wire $900 to someone in Cameroon, a western African country bordering Nigeria.

A few days later, the man received an e-mail telling him the puppy had been sent to New York City. He was then asked to wire an additional $350 to cover airfare to Seattle, where he was told the puppy would be inspected before being released to Canada.

The man was also asked to send money for an import licence and life insurance. In total, he wired about $1,800 before his wife stepped in and prevented the couple from being scammed any further.

There was no puppy.

“He didn’t want to believe it,” said Cpl. Scott Hilderley of the Sooke RCMP, who added the case should come as a warning to others. If you’re buying something through a local classified website and you’re asked to send money overseas, you might want to reconsider.

“Those warning bells didn’t ring loud enough for this fellow,” Hilderley said. “It’s hard to believe someone would be that gullible.”

Sooke RCMP have looked into the matter but Hilderley said there is little they can do.

He added the man, who is in his 40s, is embarrassed by the situation and his wife is livid.

It's not so much about people adopting dogs; it's helping out people who can't take care of the dogs anymore, praying on people's kindness for animals. This is so sick.

Anyone asking you to wire money is a scammer.

If they even mention the word "moneygram" it's a scam. I once emailed a guy selling a slightly used BMW for $4500 just to see how the scam went, I ****ed around with him for a while, and realized someone would have to be amazingly stupid to fall for these scams.

People keep calling these "new" scams, but they are really all the same thing.

Someone you don't know sends you a message with a story that boils down to them wanting you to send them money over money order.

It's all the same, people should recognize it and not fall for it.

This scam has been around for 2-3 years now.

And if anyone still falls for these, they don't deserve to recoup the money they have lost. Every week we see news stories, posts online, articles in magazines about how someone lost thousands to a scammer. Maybe this wouldn't happen so much but the old adage is proven true time and again, "A fool and his money are soon parted".

"Dear stranger, I don't know you but I'd like to sell you some puppies, please send me money"...

"Dear stranger, the puppies are ill and need medicine before I can send them, please send me money"...

"Dear stranger, it will cost more than I thought to send the puppies, please send more money or they risk being put down"...

"Dear stranger, you apparently keep falling for this so please send more money, the puppies are now being held hostage by a local militia who will kill them should they not receive money"...

"Dear stranger, you really are a stupid one aren't you? I'm not even making an excuse now, please just keep sending money. In fact, why don't I just setup an account to which you can deposit money weekly, wouldn't that save so much time?"...

Seriously, who ships a dog half way across the world to sell anyway?
