Springrolls I think
When you mentioned it is used to be Spring Rolls location, then I immediately have a feeling Heart is just a re-branded Spring Rolls with changing its menus and slight reno work done.

What store closed down and replaced with Heart?
Spring Rolls closed. They are now down to only two AYCE locations: Young & Dundas and Young & Bloor.

Yes, but with a slightly different AYCE menu at higher prices.

Mississauga
Heart Sushi is the same company as 168 Sushi (which is popular out here, and I also never thought it was that great.) They were more concentrated on the west end. I believe they are not related to Spring Rolls at all. Spring Rolls has rebranded to Su&Shi that's located at Square One.

They dug their own grave with stupidity. I gave the Sheppard location about 5 attempts and they failed at all of them. From horrible service to food and so forth. It's 2017 and many restaurants still don't understand that if service is bad, people won't return.

The Sheppard location would still be there today if the mall wasn't renovating and...well, maybe if the theatre stayed.
The Yonge &Dundas location has better service anyway...they have to! They're up against Spring Sushi across the street. (right beside the theatre!!)

Not yet open but Kaka is opening at Yonge & Elm in downtown Toronto.

Oh snap! It's right by where I work! I bet it will be busy during lunch time.

Not exactly a fan of sushi queen izakaya, but it did have some cheap, decent lunches. I wonder how expensive it's gonna be downtown.

Very! The key giveaway words are "Upgraded menu" in the article.
Adding just the right food(s) justifies the excuse to pay more, provided the quality comes with it.
(I'm expecting them to say something along the lines of "Our other location does not have...")

I have a feeling they'll start taking away stuff from their "upgraded menu" after the initial opening phase. They took away the baked oysters from the HWY 7 location, which I found very disappointing.
