New car warranty question...
I have a 2004 Toyota. Today, when the dealer was checking for rattle, they found that the transmission oil pan is dented upwards from the bottom. They recommended having it changed.
I remember running over a huge chunk of ice accidentally. Now, if I change it at a local garage instead, would that void the warranty of my toyota?

It should not void the warranty but you should take a look at the cost difference between the 2 shops. Since there is no aftermarket parts for your oil pan the difference would only be the labour rate which may not be too much.

Stick with Toyota. They'll back everything the do and this way don't have to worry about anything happening and them then saying, oh you did it elsewhere.
Why local garage anyways. Dealers rates are the same these days, plus they have the experience of consistently working on your type of car, thereby hopefully finding the problem quicker than your local garage, who hasn't seen as many, say per say with the same problem.

Both the dealer and the local garage suggested banging the oil pan straight as opposed to changing it as an alternative.
Dealer $240
Garage $60
I'm more incline to go to garage for now...so long as it doesn't void the warranty.

I might void the warranty on the oil pan..which is already damaged, but it wont affect the warranty on the rest of your car.

Are you sure they wont change it for free? I have a Rav4 and a rock put a hole in my antifreeze tank (i think thats what it was, it was in front of the engine) Toyota replaced it for free no questions asked. This happened the first year i got the car.
