yep that sounds about right. Windows 64-bit is quite a bit larger as it contains extra bits to support 32-bit programs.
I have a 60 GB SSD ... formats to about 55, and have about 20GB free with Windows 7 64-bit installed.
then starcraft 2 eats up the rest of that SSD Space.
If you have a secondary drive, i would suggest moving the page file to a different drive letter. by default windows places a page file on the root of c:\ ... and it's the exact size of the RAM installed on your system. in my case, 8 GB ... which put me almost out of space.

OP keep in mind if you do this, you might slow down your system if your system actually uses the pagefile (unless of course your other drive is also an SSD
).
Your system will run faster if you can keep your pagefile on the SSD (i.e. if space isn't an issue).
And if your system pages a lot then you might want to consider adding more RAM instead of moving the pagefile (seeing that RAM is pretty cheap). But at 8GB unless you're a power user, it won't happen too much, so this may be a moot point.

8gb of space is more then plenty to run without a pagefile. I have successfully done it with 4gb of ram. The only time you will need more then this if you run photoshop or some program that requires massive amounts of memory. You can always disable and see how it runs and if you ever need it, windows will tell you it's out of memory. You can always enable it again afterwards. Your system will run faster without the pagefile, if you look it up, the idea of the pagefile is for windows to use if you run out of regular ram. But windows doesn't necessary operate like that, it will use the pagefile even if it's not needed. That is why people who have tons of ram have disabled it and they see faster system response.
Also, move all your windows temp folders (options in IE) including the tmp and temp lines located in the same area as the pagefile over to the hard drive. Disable indexing on the SSD and once you are done doing everything, use disk cleanup(right click the SSD, and go to properties) to clean all the temp files that were written during this whole process.

I lol'd @ burning programs (plural)?
