new flight regulations??

ok well i'm going on a trip to germany and all of a sudden i hear about this no liquid policy...
is it ok if the liquids are placed in the luggage that gets checked in,

i have like 4 flights to take, 1 from toronto to germany,
1 from germany to london uk
1 from london uk to manchester
back from manchester to toronto..

just wondering if i can pack my laptop with my luggage or will they throw that out

The following security measures have been put in place by the federal government until further notice:

* Effective immediately, for all flights (Domestic, U.S. and International) liquids or gels in containers of any size are not permitted to be brought onboard by passengers; this includes liquids or gels in carry-on baggage;

Liquids or gels in containers of any size include: all beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency. Passengers should pack liquids or gels in checked baggage.

Passengers may bring aboard baby formula, breast milk, or juice if a baby or small child is travelling. Prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger’s ticket, insulin and essential other non-prescription medicines are allowed.


Currently, there are no further "rules" beyond that.

I heard that flights out of england won't even let you takeelectronic devices on board, even an ipod, cell phone, or computer...just imagine how boring those long flights would be with no gadgets!

Alert at UK Airports

Following this morning's police operation, the Department for Transport has asked all UK airports to apply additional security measures designed to ensure passenger safety.

Hand baggage restrictions:
These measures will prevent passengers from carrying hand luggage into the cabin of an aircraft with the following excepts (which must be placed in a plastic bag):
# pocket size wallets and pocket size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards etc (not handbags));
# travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets);
# prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (e.g. diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic.
# spectacles and sunglasses, without cases.
# contact lens holders, without bottles of solution.
# for those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger) and
# sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags).female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (eg tampons, pads, towels and wipes).
# tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs
# keys (but no electrical key fobs)
# All passengers must be hand searched, and their footwear and all the items they are carrying must be x-ray screened. Any liquids discovered must be removed from the passenger.

Pushchairs and walking aids must be x-ray screened, and only airport-provided wheelchairs may pass through the screening point. In addition to the above, all passengers boarding flights to the USA and all the items they are carrying, including those acquired after the central screening point, must be subjected to secondary search at the boarding gate. Any liquids discovered must be removed from the passenger.

Just to clarify...It's only flights in and out of England that won't let you bring electronics. If you are flying from Canada to the US you can still bring like a laptop or an iPod?

I suggest leaving it at home. Checking in a laptop is just asking for trouble. It will be a mess trying to get compensation if it gets lost or stolen. You have two flights that, which unless the rules change, will require you to part with it.
