Hey RFDers,
Noticed that the cord I use for my headphones is beginning to deteriorate. Currently see some unshielded wire sticking out ready to fail. So what I'm looking for is the best in-ear headphones for $20-50. Preferably something rugged since I use them for work/commute/school. My audio preference is a little bass heavy but not to an overpowering point.
Thanks ahead for your suggestions!

You might be able to find the Klipsch Image S4 for around $60ish before tax... http://www.head-fi.org/t/570892/revi...g-for-the-buck
If you can afford to - the Vsonic GR07 MKII (or GR07) is a really goood bet but they cost around $150ish. They are really well built and sturdy. http://www.head-fi.org/products/vsonic-gr07/reviewsLast edited by george__; Jul 23rd, 2012 at 03:05 PM.

Looking at the OP's price range and need for ruggedness, the Koss Portapros would seem like a good fit. Lifetime warranty too!

Owner of multiple IEMs including the Monoprice. Good SQ especially for the price. Don't mind the massive drivers and are comfortable, not suitable for everyone though. The HUGE negative is the cable; it is extremely prone to tangling especially due to the design of the ear pieces. Very frustrating otherwise. Personally if I were constrained by price, I'd get a MEElectronics IEM.

Yeah I read a lot of reviews saying the cable was absolute garbage. However the headphones I use for commuting I go through on a monthly basis. I doubt there's any headphone cable out there that could survive the hell I put them through. So if the monos are as good as people say, I'll buy 10 in bulk and be set for a year or so haha

Where's the current best online source for the Monoprice buds for Canadian buyers?
Also, are they available anywhere locally in the GTA?

^The only place you can buy them are from monoprice's website, since it is their store's house brand. Shipping isn't too bad, if you keep under $20, you wouldn't get extra tax at customs.

Charged me $10.77 on my paypal taxes and shipping in to the GTA, not bad at all. I really hope the reviews are true about how good they are, I'll let you know once I recieve them.
I really hope you're joking, Skullcandys are mediocre at best and Dre's are obscenely overpriced. Both are geared towards listeners who drown their music out with bass_______________XBL: CreamMadedSteam: xXxTehxXxLoL: Teh2

^Likely Lifehacker effect, these buds were posted here a few times already.
Btw, the 8323 - DJ style headphone are awesome too, if you guys are ordering stuff already.
I connected mine with a Beats Solo HD knock off cable and call it my "Poor man Beats".
