New-ish phone

My sister wants me to get her a new phone, she is currently on Telus, told her thats the problem, but after seeing that her LG Chocolate screws up just sitting there, I think there's more problems then just telus.

What phones should i be looking for? Told her a samsung phone,basically because every phone i've owned thats a samsung (or friends owned) are tanks, they withstand EVERYTHING! Unlike all other phones ive used/played with (minus a couple sony-ericssons).

I know i cant get a GSM phone so CDMA is the only way, and she had a blackberry, so i dont know whether her plan is still there, but she wants something cheap. Just looking for a few phones to look out for.

use should check if she is eligible for an upgrade from telus, that way she can get a subsidized phone from telus if she extends her contract

doesnt want to extend contract. has 2 years left as it is
