Lenzr's newest photo contest, Haircuts and Hairstyles, is looking for submissions celebrating--you guessed it--a wide variety of hairdos. Big or small, short or long, buzzed or tall, the amount of hairstyles invented in the 20th century is astounding, and there's likely going to be a new wave (get it?!) in the 21st century as well.



In some cases, the hairstyles people wear are associated with a group or belief system. In Toronto we have a museum for shoes; does anyone know of a hair museum anywhere? Fashion is political, and has been used throughout the ages to separate different classes and to represent the ideologies of its time.



The prize for this contest is a high-end blow dryer and flat iron, courtesy of the contest's sponsor, a luxurious and cutting edge new Yorkville salon in Toronto.

This contest started July 1, 2011. Voting begins on August 15, 2011, after which the top ten photos advance to judging. The winning photograph will be announced September 1, 2011.
