are these the bf goodrich traction ta t tires?
Check the ratings for the tire,
Treadwear: 620
Traction: A
Temperature: B620 A B
I find that these tires are not great for handling, considering the sidewalls are very soft. These are more for touring comfort than sporty handling.
balancing should only cost $5 per tire. Some charge $10, which I think is high.

New Tires
Hi Guys,
My front left tires has an air leek...it goes to <20PSI in ~12hrs. Today I filled it up every morning at the gas station around my house. I need 225/50/R17.
I live in Ottawa so not far from the US boarder...is my best bet to get some shipped from Tirerack to the US and change them there?
I called Canadian tire they quoted me ~$60 more a tire +$48 to balance.
What are your thoughts?

I was looking at: General - Exclaim UHP but those seem to have a much lower thread life...
the real question is where should I be buying these tires? Are there any good sales on the get within ~$100 of the US prices?

$60 to repair the flat or to sell you a new tire? $60 seems really cheap for a 17" tire! I'm pretty sure you won't get the General Exclaim UHP's for that price!
Is it not possible to have the leak plugged? Much cheaper and probably mroe economical if you have lots of tread left on the tires.
Btw if you are buying 4 new ones, almost all the manufacturers have rebates if you buy 4 tires:

that would normally make sense, but I guess I forgot to leave this part out, they are at 3/32 thread left and need replacing shortly...
Thoughts on where I should buy tires from?

Haven't started calling around yet but I was planning to give the folks at clicktire.com (in Montreal) a call because they seemed to have really great prices with shipping this past winter on the same tires I bought for more locally.
OK Tire had decent prices too but ran out of the model of winter tires I wanted so I'll be giving them a call as well.
