New tires for lease return...what about spare?

I just got new (cheap) tires put on my leased car...the lease is up in a year and I knew they would ask me to replace the tires anyway (original tires from 3 years ago needed to be changed).

I got a set of brand new tires, correct size and rating. However, the spare (which has hardly ever been used) is still of the original tire brand. I know when you return a lease they want to see the same brand tires on the car but does that also include the spare in the trunk? I want to know if I should go and also buy a spare of the same brand...

I have worked for car dealerships for a number of years, and we never had the person returning a car from lease replace the spare tire unless it was missing or completeley worn down to the wear bars. I would take a chance, they should be fine with the old spare.

I doubt it, ask the dealer. The spare is suppose to be a temporary solution.

LOL, so you finished out your spare as well?

I don't think you even need to replace the same size, same brand of the OEM tires...OEM tires are usually expensive...I believe as long as you return the car with some acceptable tire threads, they are ok with it. Again, is not even the dealership who care about those stuff, is the leasing company.

No the spare will not be included unless it's full-size. Even then it might not be included. A compact spare, if it was used, may require replacement; but otherwise you should be good. A compact spare is rarely the same brand/model as the other tyres for the simple reason that those tyres aren't made in compact-spare sizes.
