FMS Day 2 Takeaways: Cloud Fundamentals Improving in 2H; Cloud/Enterprise Focused on Computational Storage Architectures

Computational storage was a theme at FMS as the storage (SSD) and storage network (fabric) interface are becoming more intelligent. From an architectural perspective, we saw a lot of focus on “computational storage” architectures that integrate computational offloading and acceleration at the storage or storage fabric level (smartNICs, smart SSDs, etc.) to reduce the burden on the host CPU and boost overall system/storage access performance. Functions like compression / decompression, encryption/decryption, security, system direct memory access, database functions are being offloaded with special acceleration silicon integrated directly onto the SSD (smart SSD) or NIC (smartNIC). Broadcom (Stingray processor), Mellanox (Bluefield processor), Xilinx (FPGAs), and Marvell (OCTEON processor) all showcased offload/acceleration solutions that integrate tightly with NVMe SSD and NVMe-over-fabric architectures.

If you have a lot of tabs like I do( IE, Firefox and Chrome) then you may actually need 3 as mine slows down to Pentium 133 with 50+ tabs.

P.S. Does AMD think having the price $0.01 less than $10,000 encourage more sales hahaha :D

It's $0.01 below the FINTRAC reporting limit for withdrawals in Canada.

Coincidence, I'm sure.
