[Newegg] Newegg.ca Olympus TG-820 Waterproof Camera $149 (after $10 off coupon)

I posted this in an existing thread but just realized I replied to an expired deal. Posting here.

This camera is back at $159. Hot deal, great little camera with great reviews.
Throw in the $10 off coupon and it's $149. Newegg only charges GST for shipments to QC, making this a really great deal.

This camera can be quite expensive and is $299 at BB and FS (blue and silver only for those contemplating a PM). Amazon.ca has the red one for $311.
Costco.ca is selling the model below, the TG-620 for $150.

The TG-830 is out now, so no telling how long these will be available for.

Note that this Olympus camera comes with an international warranty (card is in the box). Newegg has been known to sell US market products to Canadians, so this has been an issue for products with US specific warranties. Not an issue for this camera.

Who the hell carries their ipad around taking pics especially underwater pics? Dont be a dork and get a camera. Much smaller to lug around and you wont look stupid with it snorkeling.

At this price I'll probably do just that.

Would BB pm a different colour camera? Don't really like the red.

Most likely not. But best way to do it is get the red for now, then goto another store and tell them you change your mind on the color and get the one you want :)

Best Buy Canada doesn't sell this camera in red, so that wouldn't work.

iNubs do. well its hard to blame the iFanbois or the "fanhood" as iLike to call them. Apple is to blame for this because they did not include a card reader on the tablet even just for picture uploads..thus leaving the the consumers scratching heads on what to do to get pictures from a camera onto the tablet... so they decided to just carry around the tablet and take pictures was the only logical course of action.

and since the iPhone does not and will never have microsdxc slot, the iPad will not.. ever.

I found a coupon 'NEWCUSTOMERCA' that gives $10 off $50+, but it is for new customers only. Apparently I have ordered something from them before so they have my mailing address on file and the coupon is not valid.

I ended up cancelling my order and got someone else to order it for me instead.

Bought it during the last sale. Sturdy camera and I like that there is only one external door to seal for underwater use, and it is protected by a substantial gasket and double lock on the door. I have another small Olympus underwater camera (not a Tough) that had the usual layout with several access points and it leaked water before very much use - and that is a common issue. The way the TG-820 is built puts it in a different league.

Because everything is accessed through the one door, everything is there, battery, card slot, USB slot, which is not convenient. For a camera that will retain its waterproofing, I can live with that. It doesn't come with an external battery charger, but cheap ones and extra batteries are easily sourced on Ebay, waiting for one now.

I also like the way the menu system is laid out. I find it intuitive and easy to use.

We are off to Aruba in May and will get to try it underwater then.

THX and purchased.

Missed out on the last sale.

Drowned the last camera I took on a trip. Have this as my secondary camera for watersports.

Thanks, perfect timing for a drownable camera.
Signs you're a postwhore:
1) You say "I got that cheaper", but don't say where, or when.
2) Your post contains less than 5 words.
3) Your post contains more than 5 words, but none of them are about the topic of the thread.

I have this camera. I got it because it was relatively cheap and I just needed something. It held up fine under a few feet of water, but picture quality is not that great compared to my canon point and shoot. Colours are not as vivid. Also, the response time between click and actual image capture is horrendously slow.

The Lowepro case itself is only $7.99 in Bestbuy.

But the nice part is the color, especially if you do not like Red.
