[Newegg] Cobra SPX 7800BT Radar/Laser/Camera Detector Refurbished $65.99

Image

Newegg has this fairly well featured Cobra Bluetooth radar detector for $65.99. Factory refurbished.List $279. Seems to be available for pick up at the Richmond Hill store for those in the GTA
Probably good for highway cruising or occasional use, as these lower end RD's often give alot of false positives

Can this be detected by police's radar detector detectors?

The fine in ON is only $170 and confiscation of detector.

This is HOT if it's undetectable.

Practically it's not undetectable. Even though it's Spectre I stealth (almost all detectors nowadays are), cops have moved on to Spectre II/III. Only some of the most expensive RDs are immune to these new RDDs.

WHISTLER Laser / Radar Detector, 2 New from $75.18

VG-2 Detection Mode
The VG-2, also known as a "radar detector detector," is a special receiver used by police to detect signals radiated by a radar detector. The XTR-130 alerts you its presence, and thanks to Whistler's patented VG-2 cloaking technology provides undetectability.

VG-2 is pretty much obsolete in the traffic enforcement scene now. If you want to get a RD in a jurisdiction where it's illegal to operate in vehicles, you should look at the ones that's Spectre II/III/IV undetectable. Even though it's 2004 technology only a few most expensive brands have this feature.

For the westernmost three provinces this radar detector is a good deal. IMO it's not worth to use radar detector where it's illegal. At least in GTA, handheld LIDARs and pacing (in unmarked cruisers) are the methods of choice for traffic cops to nab speeders. A lot of cruisers with speed radars are equipped with RDD as well. So your chance of getting nabbed by radar is roughly the same as getting caught using a RD (or worse, getting two infractions at the same time).
