Don't those Mazda Millenia have issues with transmission failure with the supercharged engine?
He didn't mention the engine. The supercharged version is easy to spot because it's got a "Miller Cycle Engine" (or similar) on the engine itself.

OP, if you buy the Corolla and need winter tires, let me know. I have a set from a 1998. Michelin X-Ice 3.

You tend to see more 2001 corollas on the road than you do Mazda Millenia.
This should tell you something about the staying power of the corolla vs the Millenia.
It should also make your choice easier as to whether you want a rarity vs a tested and truly reliable car.

Beige Corolla is bullet proof. Can't go wrong unless it's never been maintained. The body work will rust before the engine and transmission dies. Same thing for older Honda Civics

So rust issues on Mazda's only happened under Ford's watch?

This one doesn't seem rusted out.
