Nexus 5 Defects Thread

Just got my phone and while taking out of the box I heard slight tiny click. Maybe perhaps its the screen protector flaps that's hitting the glass or sim tray hitting the body. Or Power or volume rocker buttons doing their motion.

So I did a little troubleshooting by removing all screen protectors and sim tray. While holding down both power and volume buttons, I process to shake my Nexus 5 as you would wave your hand to someone. Also decrease the movement ever slowly by 50% down to slow motion 10%.

Someone also said it may be camera lens and all I can do with this one is hold the camera area and front screen and do the shake test and still can't stop the clicking sound.

Something is loose and clicking inside my new Nexus 5!

Anyone else have this problem?

All I hear is a small clickish sound when shaking it really fast, not noticeable unless your trying to listen to I.

I hear a faint sound in mine also. I really wouldn't worry about it, unless something is not working.

Yea, that faint noise is the movement from power button. Mine just clicks and ticks every time I handle the device. Just now, lifting it off the table, it ticks. Maybe its a security measurement to let the user know someone is playing with your Nexus 5!

Anyway, just got off the phone with google. Someone actually answered the phone like the movie The Intern. Total talk and RMA time was 12mins. Very good I would say. Rep said he would send me another phone within 5 business days not 5 weeks and I have 21 days to return this one or they would charge $399.

Maybe its the image stabilization system letting the lens move, try turning on the camera and see if it ticks.

Just check the camera and camcorder function. IOS is working as I move abouts in the room. Ticking sounds continues unfortunately.

I guess they have extra stock just for these occurrences?

Its the ceramic volume and power buttons. I dont think it's a defect...

hold/muffle the buttons and shake again. see if it happens.

It's most likely the optical stabilizer. As a photographer, the majority of my lenses have this too and it also makes a clanky/ticking sound when I shake them, but I don't hear this sound from my non-OS lenses. I do realize that a cell phone and a lens are two completely different categories in regards to this, but could be a possibility.

How many Nexus 5 threads do we need?

Nexus 5 button rattle. I think if you hold/press the rattle button (ex. power button) and try to shake the phone. If you hear no sound then it is just a rattle button problem...

Someone try to fix it by inserting a small paper to prevent the rattle...

I have the same thing. If I hold the volume buttons, power botton and press the camera lens THEN shake it.. nothing. So my guess is that its normal.
