Just checked my credit card and Google has refunded me the price I paid for the 5X, $389 + taxes. So at the end it was basically a free rental for a year!
Lucky you

My wife's 5X died this morning. It was purchased Oct 2015. I contacted Google, but they've told me to call LG.

Just chatted with LG, they are going to repair it for free, but the phone will be downgraded from 32 to 16 GB.

Update on second 5x , been about a week since getting replacement approval... seems Google is trying to delay and still say the replacement will be shipped next week.

Sorry, didn't notice this post earlier. I had this exact problem a year ago and found a solution that worked:

You have to be comfortable taking apart your phone, but it worked perfectly (no recurrence in 10 months since I did this). Cost was less than $10 for the compressed air and AV cleaner.

This might resolve the Nexus 5 issue, but this bootloop problem is with the Nexus 5x.

Finally got notice to send in the second 5x for refund yesterday... took like close to 2 weeks to get the email compared to the first one that had bootloop.

Is this the same root cause of the 6p bootloop issue? e.g. am I looking forward to posting in this thread in a few months?

Yeah I think it might be the same problem... I warned my dad who has a 6p about this just to keep backups, he wouldn't mind a refund either if it happens. Face With Tears Of Joy

But seriously... it must be horrible design for so many phones to all die.
