The rims are gone - toasted. Destroyed. I bought new ones and chucked them. Just avoid this idiot at all costs - untrustworthy, blocks phone numbers, friendless and desperate looking, and in general, a lying dbag. Typical behavior.

There is, which is why it'd be nice of the OP could provide pictures showing the bent rim.

_______________
I've just recently left the car industry for good.
Thankfully however, I can offer professional advice about luxury brands (BMW, Lexus, Infiniti, Audi, Mercedes, and more), and about importing US cars into Canada. I've helped 57 RFD members thus far with a variety of questions and advice!

I realize that you're upset, but you being racist about it is not helping your cause.
I still feel like there's too many unknowns here to figure out who is in the wrong. With the lack of evidence from tcharged, and the Kijiji ad that was posted, then pulled shortly after being linked here, I'm not sure what to think.
Sounds to me like a bit of buyer's remorse, and the seller wouldn't reverse the transaction, so you reverted to badmouthing him. The fact that you already have thrown out the rims is a bit weird too. i would've fought a lot harder for a refund given that situation.

Another " i got scammed by a RFD member " thread .....

I buy nothing off a forum ( even this one ) and especially used rims or tires . Too many chances for a bent rim , broken belt , etc . As you have learned , never buy used rims , tires , electronics , or condoms .

Both parties seem to be somewhat at fault to me.
Brian did not specify in his original ad for the wheels that the rims were bent beyond use (i.e. warped versus curb rash. Curb rash is essentially cosmetic and does not affect the balance or integrity of the wheel while warping requires realigning or complete replacement of the rim). That is indeed misleading and probably unethical to attempt to sell the wheels implying they are still useable.
However, the buyer should still have done a quick check on the condition of the wheels. Any garage can do this and it should be common sense when buying anything used to inspect for *full* functionality, not just a one-over or tire depth check. It seems like the buyer just doesn't understand all the factors that could be damaged/defective in a wheel (camber, other deformities in the rubber for example).
Frankly I still think the seller should have specified warping/bending of the rims. It would have been entirely obvious to him at any higher speeds as the steering wheel would have shook/vibrated on unbalanced wheels.
At the same time, pulling out the race card is absolutely unacceptable and should have consequences. In this country and time, you'd be think people would be intelligent enough to get over such irrational and juvenile impulses.

Let's be honest, what type of established member on rfd is going to make a thread claiming the rims were bent if they were not actually bent? Even admitting the tires are in good condition?
