Nikon a900 or Canon Sx720

I want to buy a PS camera with the longest Zoom I can get.
I want a camera that fits in my pocket with zoom and take decent capability.

I am undecided between the Nikon A900 and the Cannon SX720.
The Canon has a 40X zoom while the Nikon has a 35X zoom but it can record 4K videos...

How much of a difference realistically is the 5X zoom?
And for a camera to take pictures is 4k really that necessary?

Of course 4K isn't necessary. But if you like to take video, it's good to have. 5X zoom is not going to make a big difference either. They look pretty evenly matched on paper.
Honey, I can't go to bed yet. Somebody is wrong on the Internet!

Definitely try both of they out and not just trust the spec. I personally find Canon is king of PS for a good reasons, things like Ui, menu, Af, etc, are usually better on Canon than others I find. Nikon makes good dslr, but I just don't think they ever got the PS down.
The Devil made me buy it - RFD.

I have been reading and the nikon has a 29 minute limit or 4gb for video recording. So recording 4k it's going to record at about 7mins. Does it use compression at all??
I don't know if the Canon has this limit

Pretty much all cameras have the 29 minute limit. It is a legal issue as in Europe anything recording 30 minutes or more is treated as a video recorder and not a still camera.
