16-85 = prosumer DX lens (its considered the kit lens for the D300)

16-35 = professional FX lens

a newbie question please,

how does the 16-85 compare to the new 16-35?

Thanks,
The 16-35mm will be a 16-35mm lens on a FX camera. On a DX camera it'll be 24-52.5mm.

Don't forget the 16-85 on a DX camera will be 24-127.5 (FF equivalent)
