found some info:
AIR MILES GOLD status is attained, or maintained each year by collecting 1000 AIR MILES in a calendar year, from January 1 to December 31. Once AIR MILES GOLD status has been achieved your benefit period will begin the week after you qualified.
Looks like this camera is currently sold for $449.99 from FS/BB (Didn't check other sites for this purpose), which gives you a return of $0.145/mile . Better return that the "95 miles for $10 off" cards for about $0.105/mile return . If you're someone who doesn't use miles for actual plane tickets, then this is probably worth it.

Dont you need to factor in taxes? $10 off includes tax but $449.99 does not?

holy crap! nice find. I need to replace my Nikon D80. This would be a decent upgrade for now.

What is the "95 miles for $10 off" cards I assume it's different from Air Miles Cash.

Yeah, I actually forgot that airmiles cash is 95 miles for $10 as well. I was actually referring to gift cards, but they look to be the same thing. Ignore my post then! hah

the D3200 is not something I would have paid for as an upgrade from a D80. I have 2 D80's anyway. So I don't think I can pass this up.

I actually have some Dream reward that I want to cash out if there is a 95 miles for $10 gift cards. Are they still available?

Thanks OP. That's a good deal. Airmiles dreams rewards have been pretty disappointing lately.

The D5200 was $430 iirc at Target a few months back. I know, time machine, but that would have been the one to buy. I almost bought it, but held out for the anticipated price drop - which for once didn't happen.

Not as physical gift cards unless there is the odd thing buried as the category is gone. Via rail may be the only one left for 950AM for $100.

There is only magazine subscriptions left in the "reading" category. The "gift card" category is now to buy cards for money not redeem miles, you do earn some bonus miles but that's about it.

The D3200 doesn't have a focus motor so some lenses are manual focus.

I didn't know that was a limitation. thanks. I'll have to see if my lenses are going to work with AF.

[just checked] I have both 70-200 AF S 2.8 and 18-200 AF S which seem to a built in motor. I really didn't know there was a difference. I also have a 50 mm AF 1.4 so that doesn't seem to have a motor.

now i'm really confused. I ordered it but now wondering if I should cancel it (not even sure that's possible)

The 50mm 1.4D doesn't have a motor but the 50mm 1.4G does. Also the D3200 only has one dial not two like your D80 so some of your settings will have to be changed by digging through the menu. I wish they had a D7100 for half the miles. This a great deal for someone who wants an entry level DSLR.

This was a great deal share.

I ended up ordering one. I need something this summer until I can afford to buy an actual enthusiast/professional replacement. That D7100 would probably be my current choice but now it looks like it's being replaced by a D7200. They just don't stop at Nikon and it's hard to keep up.

I reviewed the short comings and I can adjust to them I currently have 2 D80's and I'll at least get better imaging and have the ability for video and possibly wifi communication with the 3100. My main 2 lenses have the AF drive, thankfully. I will miss the second wheel for sure though.
