Nikon D40 and 8 GB SD CARD slow after awhile?
My D40 has been taking pictures slower the normal I Have a feeling it is because there is a ton of Pictures on the SD card, what do you think?
Its a 60X SD card I think, and there is like 3000 pictures on it, should I Maybe use a smaller sd card?

If it's the latter, it is possible that the SD flash card might be nearing the end of it's life. Flash chips have a limited read/write lifespan, and it could be because you're getting close to it. However, that read/write lifespan should be like 100,000 cycles though. Reply With Quote

Move your 3,000 images on your SD card in your hard drive (you don`t want to lose it if the card fail). And format the SD card using your D40.

I have never noticed any speed reduction when filling up a card. Perhaps you have noise reduction or the like turned on?

I think there was something saying D lighting and it was flashing. My GF keeps turning it on somehow and does not know how to turn it off.
I will move the pictures and see if that helps, yeah there is over 3000 photos on the SD card. Reply With Quote

You should really back up your photos onto a HDD as suggested or something else, I would be nervous to have 3K photos on a single card myself... the most I've ever kept on one card is about 700 shots
