I'm not worried at all. A lot of people are being alarmists about it. Simple fact is I want one and I'll demonstrate free market democracy by buying one, and not letting myself be influenced by market panic.

When I bought a PSP, it was more expensive at launch than the Vita's pricing here in Canada. A 1GB memory stick was also more expensive than the 32GB memory card for a Vita.

Coming up, maybe an iPad 3 will match the Vita's processing power, but it will be 3x more expensive and the high-dpi will cost it some performance. For anyone that has a tablet, you know it's just not primed for gaming. The touchscreen is insufficient by itself.

I have a 3DS and it's been gathering dust. As usual, I got suckered into a Nintendo product, but I got a good deal on the bundle because of RFD. The screen quality and resolution is garbage, even compared to the PSP. How can that be?

Japan has not been interested in the Vita, nor the Wii U since October. We know from polls that they were never planning on buying it. They were never excited about it as the Western world was before we started seeing the lack of adoption.

The Vita will have more value in the long term because of themselves opening up their doors to App developers via Playstation Suite, more future-proofing in the console, and the fact that it is well integrated in terms of its features and online capabilities (according to pro reviews/critics). So you need a proprietary memory card, big deal. Anyone who has used a PSP and hacked it knows that nobody really wants to carry around a fanny pack of game cartridges.

Even if support were to somehow drop, the Vita is the most primed device to be rooted/hacked/converted into something useful, and compared to netbooks/tablets/3rd-world-handhelds, it'd be considered the best device for indie games and emulation. All the controls and features you'd ever need on a desert island.

soooo.......$30.......yes.

Again, not easily removable for the purposes of swapping it in and out, but replaceable if they ever release a higher capacity internal battery with the same form factor, or if the battery ever stops holding a charge.

Everywhere I've read has had the 4GB card for $30. I don't know whether your source is correct or those are prices in a different country. Or maybe they lowered the prices after all the complaints.

Edit: Yup, looks like they dropped the price on those memory cards recently:

Sony has revealed lower prices for PlayStation Vita memory cards. The cards' pricing was previously revealed by GameStop and caused some controversy among fans for ranging up to $120.

The link I posted is from the official PS blog. This is their official price / launch titles announcement for the US/Canada.

Personally, I don't plan on carrying around cartridges. Just one in the Vita and then the rest will be digital. I've already pre-ordered the bundle with Uncharted via Best Buy, so it's no longer relevant to me, but we have download sizes from the JP Playstation store.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 – 1350 MB
Uncharted Golden Abyss – 2777 MB
F1 – 1435 MB
Katamari – 744 MB
Little Deviants – 869 MB
Army Corps of Hell – 598 MB
Dynasty Warriors – 1485 MB
Dungeon Hunter – 1057 MB
Virtua Tennis – 1241 MB
Blaz Blue – 3180 MB
Disgaea 3 – 1699 MB
Hot Shots Golf – 1100 MB
Ridge Racer – 561 MB
Lord of Apocalypse – 1427 MB

So the bigger games would take longer to load onto your card, and decrease the amount of space available for all your games. Blaz Blue pretty much takes up the smallest card size available. I don't know that Sony limits game sizes (they shouldn't) but here you are. I bet down the road, you probably WILL have to buy a cartridge, and download additional data separately for bigger online games.

I've read that some PS Vita games can only save on to the cartridge rather than the memory card. Since those two games that I've highlighted are downloadable games, does that mean I can save the data on to the memory card and keep the saves with me even if I delete the games from the memory card?

The 3G version gets a thumbs down from me. Looking at the US pricing, I think we can expect similar limits and monthly fees in Canada. Plus from what I've heard, many games don't support multiplayer over 3G. I'll just stick to tethering via my smartphone which I can already do for free.

The 3G version includes a built-in GPS too. So $50 more for a GPS isn't a bad price if you need a GPS. Just get a car charger cable and you're set.

But why not just get a GPS for $100-$120? With the 3G version you're spending money on a data plan.

Rogers is the most likely carrier to offer 3G service for Vita. I would just check their 3G tablet plans and think of them as Vita plans.
I wonder when they plan on revealing the 3G release date for Canada.

Ah you're silly... the PSPGO already did that.
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is the Ace of Spades.

Last time I checked with EB, they told me you can just buy a 3G model from them without a data plan. So if I'm getting a wifi model already, then it's nice to have a GPS too for $50 more. You know what I mean?

No.

I love the new 7000 series (graphic cards) from amd.

If you really want to know everything, i'll probably buy the 7870 when it is released.

Thanks
