Nice, but does it hackable (softmod)?

At a guess, I'd say Nintendo blocked current exploits and is banking on the limited release to deter interest in hacking it.

$99 dollar system without Wi-Fi in an exclusive region? That didn't work too well when Sony tried it... http://crave.cnet.co.uk/gamesgear/so...i-fi-50004756/

Exactly this - they probably only made a small number and want to test the water. If it sells well they'll release in other markets.

It actually has its uses. Much of the younger generation don't even know or at least don't care about gamecube and many don't bother with online. Even some of my 23 year old friends with a wii don't use wifi. Good for parties. Believe it or not there are many 10 year olds out there as well.

Right but in this day and age I can't imagine any 10 year olds not knowing about the Wii U and being happy with getting this instead. We all know how kids are :p You do have a point with it being good for parties, however.
Frankly the only use I do see in this is like a previous poster said: profit off our American friends over eBay.

Why would they buy it? They can get a real Wii for $20 more.

There's a segment of the population with very limited income. This is hitting the magical $99.99 price point that becomes accessible and appealing to that market segment. Likely that these households do not have internet or have no interest in accessing online features. This could also appeal to parents with a separate playroom for the kids. Rather than continuously bringing the Wii back and forth from the playroom to the main family room they may buy this mini system to keep permanently in the playroom. Breaking the $100 barrier can induce additional sales to an untapped market.

They need to release a new round of $20 Nintendo selects to pair with this release.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Wii Sports Resort
Super Smash Bros Brawl
etc
Will probably be used for Dance games and Party games.
I really don't need the WiFi on my Wii.

I don't get this. The price point may be appealing, but given what you get the regular Wii or an Ouya (I know some people think this'll stink) are a better purchase. Then again, maybe all they want is a bunch of people to buy it because it's exclusive and under $99.
I expect a lot more these days. Wifi, Netflix, etc should be standard on all types of these devices.

I honestly don't understand what in the world Nintendo is doing these days. Wii Mini? Fail. No Gambcube compatability? No INTERNET? Canada exclusive? That makes no sense. Canada isn't a third world country with no internet access, this shouldn't be released here.

Nintendo keeps taunting me with that red wiimote & nunchuk. I really don't want to buy a new console to get them.
