Noise in upper bedroom from the basement utility room

In the upper bedroom 2 floors above utility room in basement, I can clearly hear the noise whenever the furnace or water heater or water softener runs. Sometimes at 2-3am when the furnace or water softener runs, the noise can wake me up.

In the room on main floor room directly above the utility room, I can barely hear the noise.

I suspect the noise travels through the HVAC aluminium pipe and comes out of the vent. Does anyone have a good solution?

Thanks.

My master bedroom is like this, the vent right beside the bed picks up all the furnace room noise. Luckily, there's two vents in the room, so I stuffed a towel inside the offending vent, and now I sleep like a baby. Room still stays warm.

There is only one vent in this bedroom. Not sure if there is a good way to muffle the noise from travelling up.
