Very, very high effieciency LED non-breakable bulbs. Half the price of Bright-lites.
Me personally I plan on buying the white ones, not for christmas, but for general lighting inside the house along the stairs and hallways.
I've been waiting for these, as I really don't like Compact Flourescents.
Here is a snippet of the energy differences a LED bulb is to a traditional bulb (Ripped from http://www.ebmag.com/EBFEB04/industrynews.html)
"Holiday conservation
Think holiday lights are harmless to hydro bills? Think again. A string of 250 traditional lights, lit for 10 hours a day for 30 days will tack $22.58 to the average bill. On the other hand, a string of 300 LED lights lit for the same time costs just 18 cents. For this reason, Enersource Hydro Mississauga gave local residents the option of exchanging their old, inefficient lights for new, energy-saving Forever Bright lights at the Mississauga Symphony of Lights event. The utility gave away about 1,000 free strings of the LED lights, which were also used to illuminate Christmas trees at City Hall."

Moved to off topic
Home Depot, Rona & London Drugs are all carrying the LED lights now.
I purchased three 70 LED string last year from LD for $14.99 which seem to be the average price that I've seen so far.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked dealforme for this post.

Yeah, I mention it here in the hopes that someone knows of a place or would do a comparison between LED lights. I know the variance in brightness/energy effieciency varies greatly, with Nimichi manufactured LED's being the most energy efficient.
Good time to pick them up (for general lighting anyhow) is on boxing day.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked ZenOps for this post.

re: white LEDs. These used to have a rather short lifespan (yellowing after 1000 hours). Does anyone know if this is still true?
